Just because she isn’t hinting at the arrival of a book character, doesn’t mean it’s not happening, right?
Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has shut down a popular fan theory ahead of the release of season 3 part 2.
The Derry Girls actress — who plays Penelope Featherington/Lady Whistledown in the Netflix period drama — posted a selection of photos to her Instagram to get people (even more) hyped for the next episodes.
One photo in particular caught people’s attention: Colin Bridgerton actor Luke Newton reading a script in a dressing room. Specifically, it was the post-it note with the name “Sophie” on it stuck to the mirror that got people excited.
Plenty of fans in the comments asked if the post-it was teasing that the arrival of Sophie Beckett was imminent. For those who haven’t read the books, Sophie is the eventual love interest of Benedict Bridgerton.
Coughlan quickly shot down the speculation, replying to one fan that they just happened to be at a make-up station belonging to someone called Sophie.
A new trailer for the second half of Bridgerton season 3 recently dropped, teasing what will happen following the climactic carriage scene and surprise proposal.
The trailer showcased Penelope and Colin walking into the Bridgerton household hand-in-hand to share the news of their engagement, with the family overjoyed at the news.
Well, everyone except for Eloise, who is concerned that the truth about Penelope being Whistledown will come out, and when it does, it will destroy her relationship with Colin, who famously hates the gossipmonger.
Eloise threatens to reveal her friend’s secret identity, but it looks like Colin already has his suspicions that his fiancée is hiding something from him.
Bridgerton season 3 part 1 is streaming now on Netflix. Part 2 will premiere on June 13. Seasons 1-2 are available on the same platform, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
