Cast of ‘Ghosts’ Discuss Character Development and Sam’s Relationship with Jay’s Family at NYCC

The cast of CBS’s “Ghosts” had a lively discussion at New York Comic Con 2024, delving into the show’s upcoming fourth season and the evolution of their characters. Rose McIver (Sam), Sheila Carrasco (Flower), Román Zaragoza (Sasappis), and Brandon Scott Jones (Isaac) shared their insights on the dynamics at play, especially regarding Sam’s relationship with Jay’s family.

Brandon Scott Jones noted the comedic tension in Sam’s interactions with Jay’s mother, played by Sakina Jaffrey. “I think Sam’s relationship with Jay’s family… really made me laugh,” he said. McIver added, “She comes in and is just this weapon who’s impossible for Sam to shake. Sam really wants to be liked, and this woman is not very keen to like her.”

Sheila Carrasco pointed out the humor that arises from Sam’s desire for approval, saying, “There’s so much comedy that Rose mines from that.” This relatable struggle resonated with the cast, reflecting a common experience for many actors.

Román Zaragoza spoke about the collaborative nature of the ensemble, explaining how it has enhanced his skills. “I honestly feel like my improv chops have gotten so much better because I’m working and spending so much time with these improv legends,” he said.

The cast also shared lighthearted moments, including some playful ribbing directed at Jones for his enthusiasm for sandwiches.
