In a surprising move, CBS has officially canceled two popular spin-offs of the FBI franchise: FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. Despite steady ratings and a loyal fanbase, the network cited financial considerations as the primary reason for ending these series.
FBI: Most Wanted, which followed a specialized team tracking the FBI’s most dangerous fugitives, concluded its sixth season, while FBI: International, focusing on agents operating overseas, ended after four seasons. Both shows had been critical components of CBS’s Monday night lineup, complementing the original FBI series.
While these cancellations mark the end of these particular storylines, CBS has renewed the original FBI series for three additional seasons, extending its run through at least Season 9, expected to air through 2027. This decision underscores the network’s continued confidence in the flagship show’s ability to draw audiences.
In addition to the renewals and cancellations, CBS is expanding the FBI universe with a new spin-off titled FBI: CIA, currently in development. Scheduled to premiere in the fall of 2025, FBI: CIA will focus on the collaboration between FBI agents and CIA operatives dealing with domestic threats, promising a fresh take on the franchise.
Fans of FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International expressed disappointment over the cancellations, but many remain hopeful about the new series and the continued adventures of the original FBI team.
