FBI Spinoffs, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International, Canceled at CBS

Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz, Keisha Castle-Hughes and Nathanial Arcand joined FBI: Most Wanted when the series started in 2020. Dylan McDermott became part of the show after McMahon’s season 3 exit.

McDermott, 63, signed on for the role of Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott, head of the FBI’s Fugitive Task Force. “It was an easy yes for me to sign on to FBI: Most Wanted,” McDermott told PEOPLE in a March 2022 interview.

The American Horror Story actor added, “Having just worked with Dick Wolf on Law and Order: Organized Crime, he allowed me a freedom to invent Richard Wheatley that I absolutely reveled in. Then he encouraged that same freedom for Remy Scott in FBI: Most Wanted.”

As for FBI: International, Luke Kleintank, Heida Reed, Carter Redwood, Vinessa Vidotto and Christiane Paul kicked the series off when the show premiered in September 2021.

In a statement to PEOPLE following the cancellation, Eva-Jane Willis, who stars on the series, said she was devastated by the news. “Of course I’m sad the show had to come to an end, but I want to thank Wolf Entertainment and CBS for everything: in particular the incredible tour of Europe! We have memories to last us a lifetime! Also, everyone needs to know how incredible our crew in Budapest are: our family away from home- I cannot thank you enough. And to the fans: you’re amazing! Great episodes coming up so stick with us all the way to the finish line! We’re not done yet!”

Jesse Lee Soffer became part of the FBI: International team when it was announced that series lead Kleintank, 34, would be leaving the show.

“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International,” he said in a statement to TheWrap at the time. “This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life.”

In addition to Soffer, 40, Station 19 alum Jay Hayden also shared in a September 2024 Instagram post that he was “very excited” to join FBI: International in its fourth season after Deadline shared news of his casting.

As for the upcoming FBI: CIA, which was also created by Wolf, the series is expected to follow a “dedicated, strait-laced FBI agent and a street-smart CIA agent” who are “part of a new, clandestine taskforce charged with solving and preventing domestic terrorism in and around New York City.”
