It’s a time for celebration! CBS has just revealed its fall 2025 schedule, announcing the premiere dates for some of its biggest shows. Two of the most anticipated returns are Matlock and Elsbeth, and fans are in for a treat. Both series will return with special “sneak peek” episodes this fall.
Matlock season 2 is set to premiere on CBS with an early sneak peek episode on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025. The episode will air from 8:30-9:30 p.m. ET. On the same day, CBS will give an early look at Elsbeth season 3 with a sneak peek episode airing from 9:30-10:30 p.m. ET. Both shows will then return to their regular weekly timeslots starting on Thursday, Oct. 16. A brand-new episode of each show will air on this date. Matlock season 2 episode 2 will air on Oct. 16 at 9/8c, while Elsbeth season 3 episode 2 will air on the same day at 10/9c.
Matlock is a legal drama series created by Jennie Snyder Urman. It’s described as a reimagining of the classic mystery legal drama series of the same name starring Andy Griffith. Academy Award-winning actress Kathy Bates stars in the leading role as Madeline Kingston, a highly intelligent, no-nonsense lawyer with a hidden agenda who comes out of retirement to join a prestigious law firm. Joining Bates in the cast are Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, David Del Rio, Leah Lewis, and many others.
Elsbeth is a police procedural series created by Robert and Michelle King, who are real-life husband and wife. The show serves as a spinoff of The Good Wife and The Good Fight. Carrie Preston reprises the role of Elsbeth Tascioni, a quirky yet brilliant former attorney who partners up with the NYPD to solve complex and unusual crimes across New York City. Carra Patterson and Wendell Pierce are also in the cast. In addition, Elsbeth has had a wide range of guest appearances from talented actors such as Stephen Moyer, Jane Krakowski, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Vanessa Williams, Laurie Metcalf, and so many others.
Other than Matlock season 2 and Elsbeth season 3, you can expect to see the return of other CBS shows this fall, including Survivor 49, The Neighborhood season 8, FBI season 8, NCIS season 23, Watson season 2, Ghosts season 5, NCIS: Sydney season 3 etc.
