CBS Reveals New Cast Members for ‘Boston Blue’ Spinoff Starring Donnie Wahlberg

CBS is moving full speed ahead with Boston Blue, the highly anticipated Blue Bloods spinoff centered on Donnie Wahlberg’s iconic character, Detective Danny Reagan. In a major development, the network has officially announced a wave of new cast members joining Wahlberg in the series, signaling a bold new chapter for the franchise.

Leading the new additions is Meagan Good, known for her compelling performances in Harlem and Think Like a Man, who will play Detective Alana Jameson—a sharp, driven investigator with a complicated past and deep ties to the Boston community. Her character is set to serve as both a partner and foil to Wahlberg’s Danny, promising dynamic on-screen tension and camaraderie.

Also joining the ensemble is Mark-Paul Gosselaar (NYPD Blue, Saved by the Bell), cast as Sergeant Ray Connors, a seasoned cop and former Marine who runs a tight ship at the Boston precinct. Gosselaar’s character is expected to bring a fresh but familiar sense of authority to the show’s new setting.

Rounding out the main cast are:

  • Bianca Santos (The Fosters) as rookie officer Talia Vega, eager to prove herself in one of Boston’s toughest districts.
  • Michael Raymond-James (Terriers, Jack Reacher) as Detective Lou Grady, a street-smart investigator with a rebellious streak.
  • Camille Hyde (All American: Homecoming) as Assistant DA Renee Martin, who will lock horns with the team while balancing her own personal motivations.

With Donnie Wahlberg both starring and executive producing, Boston Blue will follow Danny Reagan’s move from New York to Boston after taking a special assignment tied to a task force targeting high-level organized crime. The show is expected to blend the character-driven storytelling of Blue Bloods with a more action-oriented and contemporary tone.

In a press release, CBS teased that Boston Blue will “honor the legacy of Blue Bloods while carving its own path with new faces, fresh challenges, and a renewed focus on justice in a changing world.”

Wahlberg recently shared his excitement about the cast, saying:

“This group is fire. I’m proud to be working with such talented actors who bring heart, grit, and energy to every scene. I think fans of Blue Bloods are going to love what we’re building.”

Production for Boston Blue is set to begin later this summer, with a premiere expected in early 2026. While longtime Blue Bloods viewers will recognize Danny Reagan’s trademark intensity, they can also expect new layers to his character as he navigates unfamiliar territory, new partners, and personal trials outside the shadow of his legendary father, Commissioner Frank Reagan.

As CBS expands its Blue Bloods universe, Boston Blue looks poised to be the next big hit—rooted in tradition, but ready to break new ground.
