Since Tracker‘s 2024 premiere, Reenie has stood out among Colter’s team. When original members, like handlers Velma (Abby McEnany) and Teddi Bruin (Robin Weigert) or tech specialist Bobby Exley (Eric Graise), got involved, they tuned in remotely, staying out of harm’s way. However, Reenie regularly joins Colter in the field, making her one of Shaw’s most vulnerable teammates.
Tracker Addresses Reenie Green’s Weaknesses In “Breakaway”
Since Tracker Season 1, Reenie has regularly worked with Colter and been in countless situations without a way to defend herself. It makes her one of the most unguarded characters in the series, with Green unarmed and vulnerable as threats emerge. That said, her susceptibility reaches a turning point in Tracker Season 2, Episode 19, “Rules of the Game.”
In “Rules of the Game,” Reenie becomes a victim of their case, and it changes the emotional core of Rene’s character. A “missing” assistant tied to Reenie’s client, Francie (Kaylah Zander), kidnaps Green and Leo Sharf (Pej Vahdat) to punish the latter for ruining her brother’s life. During the case, Reenie experiences a series of memorable near-death encounters.
Tracker Season 3, Episode 13, reveals that Reenie has been reliving her kidnapping, with Green experiencing flashbacks to being held hostage. That said, viewers finally witness Reenie’s unrest, which contextualizes her uncharacteristic behavior throughout Season 3. The lawyer has almost missed important client meetings without notice, been drinking more than usual, and staying out through the night.
Colter Needs To Give Reenie An Upgrade In Tracker Season 3
Randy (Chris Lee) and Melanie “Mel” Day (Cassady McClincy) have noticed Reenie’s behavior, although she has mostly covered her tracks. She also plays it cool when Maxine (Kathleen Robertson), a new lawyer Reenie is working with, asks Green how she’s doing in Episode 13. Reenie says she “couldn’t be happier” than with a couple of drinks and a one-night stand.
The truth is, Tracker’s highest-stakes episodes prove that in the environments Reenie navigates, with constant threats to her life, she needs a surer way to defend herself. Colter should arguably teach Reenie how to use a firearm so that she can adequately match the force of the danger she is met with when he’s not there to protect her.
At least Tracker Season 3 is finally addressing the violence Reenie has faced. Colter couldn’t get by without Green at his side, and she needs adequate protection as their businesses escalate. That said, Tracker needs to do a bit to safeguard its more vulnerable character, as “Breakaway” finally addresses the reality of Green’s past encounters.
