Chicago Fire is not done dishing out surprises. We were already processing the fact that Dermot Mulroney will be Firehouse 51’s new chief, and now, we know that KaDee Strickland, former star of Private Practice (2017-13), will also be joining the show in season 13.
Strickland’s role is actually tied to Mulroney’s. It was already confirmed that Mulroney will play Dom Pascal, a veteran firefighter who is moving to the Windy City from Florida. He has a more relaxed vibe than his predecessor, and an estranged wife who lives nearby. Strickland will play the estranged wife.
According to Deadline, the character’s name will be Monica Pascal. There isn’t much in the way of detail or context for the character beyond that, but KaDee Strickland’s resume suggests that she will bring lots of personality and specificty to the table.
Strickland has been a familiar face on film and TV for over two decades. She made her screen debut in the classic horror flick The Sixth Sense (1999), and has had similarly exemplary turns in films like Girl, Interrupted (1999), Something’s Gotta Give (2003), and American Gangster (2007).
On television, KaDee Strickland has dabbled in the Dick Wolf universe. She appeared in a 2002 episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and has also had memorable roles in The Wedding Bells (2007) and The Player (2015).
Strickland’s starring role on Private Practice is definitely her most famous gig. She played Charlotte King, and was even nominated for a PRISM Award for Female Performance in a Drama Series Multi-Episode Storyline in 2002.
More recently, KaDee Strickland had a guest role on the thriller anthology Cruel Summer (2023). She also appeared briefly in the 2022 romantic drama The Time Capsule. Her pedigree is pretty stellar, so we’re excited to see how the actress meshes with Mulroney and the rest of the Chicago Fire cast!
