Looking ahead to NBC’s 2024-2025 season, Chicago Fire Season 13 is definitely on the horizon.
Celebrating more than a decade on air, Chicago Fire extends its respectable tenure alongside the renewal of Chicago P.D. Season 12 and Chicago Med Season 10. Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise following first responders maintains its chokehold on audiences, with fans carrying a torch for the flagship series, Chicago Fire, since its debut in 2012.
Season 12 was a wild ride — we bid farewell to several beloved Firehouse 51 first responders, including Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende). With all those tear-jerking goodbyes, fans are saying hello to a new era of Chicago Fire.
New episodes will not air until later on in the 2024-2025 season.
“It’s never lost on me how special it is to be a part of something with the longevity this has,” Taylor Kinney, aka Kelly Severide, told Us Weekly in May 2022. “It’s a testament to [show creator] Dick Wolf and the team of people he puts together.”
“This is home,” Kinney told TODAY while showing Chicago some love in honor of Fire’s tenth anniversary. “Times have changed, and the city has changed, and people have grown … The city has been good to me. I love the city. I’ve gotten to know it through my work.”

What will happen in Chicago Fire Season 13?
It’s impossible to anticipate where Chicago Fire’s endless action is headed next, but Chi-Hards can prepare for more high-stakes rescue missions and explosive Firehouse 51 drama. With some staffing shake-ups seen in Season 12 of Chicago Fire, viewers are perched to see the new era of Firehouse 51.
Part of the reason Chicago Fire remains such a grand slam is the series’ heart — between the swoon-worthy romances and emotional friendships formed within the station — the series is an emotional watch. The dynamite cast of characters adds to the series’ smash success as viewers relish seeing how they navigate life’s latest crisis, whether that’s a blazing inferno or a troublesome breakup.
It’s an energy that translates off-screen, as well, with the cast forming steel-tight bonds. In honor of her emotional Season 12 exit, Killmer reminisced about the Chicago Fire’s cast’s endless laughs on set.
“There is such a core principle of humor and friendship that continues to keep [us] going; I think that’s what’s really special about our show in particular,” Killmer told NBC Insider in 2024, adding that One Chicago creator Dick Wolf is “very intentional about making sure that the people who work on our show…have a good sense of humor.”
Until Season 13’s premiere, watch Chicago Fire on Wednesdays at 9/8c on NBC and the next day on Peacock.
