There might be a week during the season when Chicago Fire airs at a special time, as we saw this happen during the 2024-25 season with Chicago Fire airing an hour early during the One Chicago crossover event; however, you’ll typically see new episodes releasing at 9/8c on NBC.

Is anyone leaving Chicago Fire after season 14?
Sadly, Chicago Fire is undergoing a wave of cast changes with three major characters leaving the show after season 13: Sam Carver, Darren Ritter, and Jack Damon. None of the three characters will be coming back as series regulars in the new Chicago Fire season with only one of the three characters expected to appear in the new season.
Jake Lockett’s final episode of Chicago Fire is expected to be the season 13 finale, at which point we learned Carver had put in a request to transfer to Denver. Ritter’s exit will occur within the first few episodes of the season with Daniel Kyri returning to film a few episodes of season 14 as part of Ritter’s farewell arc. Given he only filmed for a few weeks, it’s likely we’ll see Ritter leave the show in one of the first four episodes of the season.
Finally, we have Michael Bradway exiting after just a few seasons playing Jack Damon in a recurring capacity. Bradway joined the cast of Prime Video’s Every Summer After and is currently filming the new series, which will result in Chicago Fire having to write out Damon early in the season.
Fans also shouldn’t expect to see KaDee Strickland back for season 14 after her character, Monica Pascal, was killed off late in season 13.
Who will be in the Chicago Fire season 14 cast?
Chicago Fire season 14 stars Taylor Kinney (Kelly Severide), David Eigenberg (Christopher Herrmann), Miranda Rae Mayo (Stella Kidd), Joe Minoso (Joe Cruz), Christian Stolte (Randall “Mouch” McHolland), Randy Flagler (Capp), Anthony Ferraris (Tony), Hanako Greensmith (Violet Mikami), Jocelyn Hudon (Lyla Novak), and Dermot Mulroney (Chief Dom Pascal). Season 14 will also welcome Brandon Larracuente to the cast as a new series regular, starring as Sal Vasquez.

How did Chicago Fire season 13 end?
There were three big revelations that came with the final episode of Chicago Fire season 13. The biggest season-ending cliffhanger came when we learned that Kidd is pregnant, meaning history will soon be made as we get to see Kidd and Severide start their family. While we’ve seen pregnant firefighters on firefighter shows, we’ve never seen a character carry a baby to term while on active duty which presents Chicago Fire with the opportunity to tell new stories centered around Kidd’s pregnancy as a lieutenant.
The finale also saw Herrmann stepping down as lieutenant on Engine 51 so that Mouch could remain at Firehouse 51. It was a shocking development as all season we had been building toward Herrmann becoming chief and Mouch then taking over as lieutenant after, but the writers chose to shake things up with Herrmann taking a demotion of sorts. This is sure to pave the way for a shift in Mouch and Herrmann’s friendship and working relationship in season 14, while also shaking things up at 51 as the two longtime firefighters settle into their new roles.
The final major storyline that came out of the finale was word that Carver was leaving town in order to start fresh. Just when fans thought that Violet and Carver were about to get back together, we learned that he had put in a request to transfer to Denver so that he could get a fresh start as he works to commit to his sobriety.
In addition to those three key storylines, the season’s final episode also teased that layoffs and cuts are coming to the CFD. This is a thread that is sure to come into play across the upcoming season and likely will factor into the exit storylines of at least one character.
