When it comes to the NBC schedule, we knew that February was going to be a little different to normal. Now comes the reality of it, as Chicago Fire is going off the air for several weeks.
The only episode of Chicago Fire to air in February 2026 will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4. After that, there are no more episodes, and while it is disappointing, it’s something that has been planned for. There is also some exciting news for when the show returns!
Don’t worry too much about the decision to pull Chicago Fire from the schedule. The entire One Chicago lineup is being pulled, and it’s not even the only NBC franchise that’s getting pulled. Every single scripted show on the network is going on a lengthy hiatus.

The Winter Olympics get started on Friday, Feb. 6, and for two weeks, NBC will offer all the coverage of each of the day’s events. That will mean some live coverage, but it will also mean some catch-up coverage for those who aren’t able to watch live. It’s a jam-packed schedule, and it’s something that we knew about.
This isn’t the first time NBC has pulled our favorite shows for the Olympics. Just four years ago, we experienced the exact same things. This world sporting event will pull in more linear viewers than the scripted shows, and NBC needs to follow what people want.
So, how long do we need to wait? After the Feb. 4 episode, Chicago Fire will return on Wednesday, March 4. Yes, that’s a whole month without episodes, but there is something exciting to share when the series comes back.
It will be the One Chicago crossover event when the series returns. That means you’ll need to tune in from 8 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday, March 4. That episode will be the Chicago Fire episode, with it switching timeslots with Chicago Med to help pick up with the emergency. As usual, the event will end with Chicago PD, and this is a full three-hour event that includes various members of the three shows in each part. It’s very much like a three-hour movie!
After that, things will be back to normal, and we should see minimal breaks in the schedule. One of the great things about the three-week break is that there are plenty of episodes to cover until the May finales!
