Chicago Fire Twist: Lucy’s Hidden Past Comes Back to Haunt Her as a New Chief Takes Control md18

51’s new Chief Assistant has been forced to swear allegiance to a concerning CFD newcomer.

CFD Chief Assistant Lucy (Jeanine Mason) hasn’t had the easiest time laying down roots on Season 14 of Chicago Fire, but that hasn’t stopped her from rising to the challenge.

After some administrative headaches, Lucy’s first day at Firehouse 51 was delayed by weeks, and in that time, her soon-to-be boss, Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney), was shockingly terminated. Talk about an awkward first day as she learning she was reporting to a Chief during his eleventh hour, but it didn’t take long for Lucy to fall into the Firehouse 51 groove, happily assisting Pascal with anything he needed during the Chief’s last day at Firehouse 51. Since Pascal’s departure, Lucy has been serving Firehouse 51 as a whole, reporting to the commanding officers and whipping the facilities into shape.

Thanks to her adaptability and infallible flexibility, Lucy soon charmed Firehouse 51 with her usefulness. But Lucy’s job was put in jeopardy during Season 14’s “Firehouse 66” with the arrival of interim Battalion Chief Andre Hopkins. Here’s what happened:

Battalion Chief Hopkins put Lucy to the test

Battalion Chief Andre Hopkins arrived at Firehouse 51 with a myriad of complaints, one of which was: with no Chief in attendance, why was there a Chief assistant? Hopkins requested a tour from Lucy, soon noting several complaints about the Firehouse 51 flow. During this encounter, Hopkins asked Lucy if they’d ever met before; she seemed very familiar.

But Lucy insisted they’d never met. “I get that all the time,” Lucy shrugged. “I must have one of those faces.”

After complaining about some of the 51 facilities being outdated, Hopkins tasked Lucy with hunting down some hard-to-find supplies. Knowing her job was on the chopping block, Lucy accepted the wild goose chase, leveraging every ounce of charm to secure the goods.

Meanwhile, Hopkins’ list of complaints about Firehouse 51 only grew, and unwilling to see Lt. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) assume Pascal’s former post, Hopkins decided to make Firehouse 51 his home base.

Who Is Lucy on Chicago Fire? What We Know (DETAILS)

Lucy’s dark past was revealed

Lucy was excited to report back to Hopkins that she’d found the supplies, shocking Hopkins with her ability to deliver the high-demand deliverable. As Lucy dropped the box off on Hopkins’ desk, she complained of some shoulder pain from an old injury. Hopkins didn’t miss a beat, suddenly remembering how he knew the Chief Assistant.

“So they saved your arm,” Hopkins said as dread crept over Lucy.

“What?” Lucy asked, feigning ignorance.

“That’s how I know you, from an accident,” Hopkins said, recalling a two-car accident from five years prior. The teenager in the other car had a broken back after barely surviving the ordeal, while Lucy’s arm had been partially severed at the shoulder.

“Yes, I’m the one who caused it,” Lucy confessed. “And you knew right away that I was drunk, you had the police ride with me in the ambulance.”

“You go to jail for it?” Hopkins asked.

“No, sir. I should have,” Lucy said, revealing she’d only faced a suspended license. No one at Firehouse 51 knew, but she’d long coveted a job at the CFD to atone. “To do something good, to make amends, I guess, in some way. I understand if this means there’s no place for me here after this.”

Hopkins took a moment before saying, “There was never a place for you without the Battalion Chief here. But now that I’m staying, there is.”

“Really?” Lucy asked in shock.

“To be clear, you’ll be working for me, not for 51,” Hopkins explained. “I need you to be comfortable with that.”

“Absolutely,” Lucy swore, soon growing uneasy as the gravity of Hopkins’ request dawned on her.
