Chicago Med has added The Bear star Sarah Ramos to its cast for the 10th season, with Darren Barnet also joining.
Ramos, who played Jessica in four episodes of The Bear, will reportedly play Dr Caitlin Lenox; Barnet, best known for his role in Never Have I Ever, will assume the role of Dr John Frost (via TVLine).
The 10th season, which is due to premiere next year, has seen a major change behind the scenes, with Allen MacDonald – best known for his work on CSI and 13 Reasons Why – replacing Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider in the role of showrunner.
“We love Chicago Med and have devoted all our creative energies to it, but after nine seasons we feel it’s time for us to move on and explore other possibilities,” said Frolov and Schneider in a statement. “We’ve been privileged to work with a great writing staff, production team and a brilliant cast of actors. We will miss them all.”
Though Ramos won’t return for The Bear, the Hulu show will come back for its fourth season, though Liza Colón-Zayas – who plays Tina Marrero on the show – is eager for many more seasons, saying: “I would love to see the show potentially continue for at least another five years.
“But only if that’s… there’s that line that Richie had in the beginning, like: ‘It is a delicate ecosystem.’ And I think that as long as that is inspired and nurtured then we’ll have the magic that we have. So that’s more important. Five more seasons, please!
“You know, we’re white-knuckling it, but that’s also very real, right? Especially now, the state of everything, but especially the restaurant industry. It’s not a walk in the park. I’m nervous too,” she added.
The Bear seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
