Chicago Med: Season 10; Dominic Rains Leaving NBC Medical Drama Series

Chicago Med will be down a surgeon when the drama returns to NBC for season 10 in the fall. Dominic Rains, aka Dr. Crockett Marcel, is leaving the series, per Deadline. Rains has been with the Dick Wolf medical drama since the fifth season.

Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Marlyne Barrett, Steven Weber, and Jessy Schram star in the Chicago Med series, which follows the work and personal lives of the staff of Chicago’s state-of-the-art trauma center, Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.

Chicago Med TV Show on NBC: canceled or renewed?

Rains’ departure doesn’t come as a complete surprise. At the end of season nine, Dr. Marcel tragically lost a child patient when a transplant fell through. He later discovered that the child’s father had committed suicide, and Marcel asked for time off from the hospital.

It looks like Marcel will leave his post permanently, but it’s unknown if Rains will make a final appearance on the show to wrap up the character’s storyline on-screen.

Chicago Med will return to NBC ‘s Wednesday night schedule in the fall with season 10. A premiere date for the new episodes has yet to be announced.

What do you think? Are you disappointed that Rains is departing Chicago Med? Who would you like to see join the cast?
