The One Chicago medical drama series Chicago Med has nearly crossed the decade mark on the air, and the procedural has now been renewed for season 10. Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, Chicago Med is the third series in the One Chicago franchise and follows the personnel at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as they go about their daily lives at the forefront of the Midwestern city’s biggest medical emergencies. Like the rest of Wolf’s impressive catalog of TV hits, Chicago Med also strikes a nice balance between its procedural stories and the personal lives of the characters.
Unsurprisingly, Chicago Med has proven to be a massive hit and continues to be yet another success for Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise that dominates NBC’s Wednesday lineup. Though the landmark 9th season of the spinoff was delayed due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023, nothing has dulled the overall popularity of the series and its franchise contemporaries. This ongoing success makes it no surprise that Chicago Med season 10 is on the horizon, especially when considering how long the other Chicago shows have been on the air.

Chicago Med Season 10 Story
Dr. Marcel Isn’t Returning For Season 10
Season 9’s finale was a doozy with several big moments that will surely spill over into season 10’s plot. Besides the typical exciting weekly action seen in the best medical dramas, Chicago Med season 10 will need to deal with the fallout of Dr. Marcel’s patient’s death, and the subsequent death of the patient’s father that left the beleaguered doctor reeling. After inadvertently causing the deaths of two people, Dr. Marcel’s future as a surgeon was in jeopardy. On top of that, the news that actor Dominic Rains isn’t returning for season 10 means big changes are coming.
Elsewhere, Ripley has been accused of assault, and though he doesn’t appear to be guilty, it won’t help his standing at the hospital. Speaking of Ripley, his spat with Dr. Charles in the season 9 finale reopened old wounds and seemingly saw the professional relationship between the duo severed for good. Whatever happens in Chicago Med season 10, there are still a lot of unresolved threads left to explore.
