Chicago Med season 11, episode 16, “The Book of Charles,” features some amazing guest stars, though the episode’s most notable guest star is one that fans won’t be seeing on-screen!

Episode 16 features a guest appearance from Chucky star Zackary Arthur, but fans won’t be seeing Arthur in the episode. Instead, Arthur lends his voice to the show in the role of Gio, a troubled young man who calls the Greater Chicago Lifeline suicide prevention center, where Dr. Charles is volunteering during his off time. It’s a unique role that opens the episode as Gio calls the help line and informs Charles that he wants to die.

We come to learn that Gio’s girlfriend was killed in a car accident when he was behind the wheel, and he blames himself for her death. While Gio does not appear in the episode, he plays a major role in the episode’s storyline as his conversation stays with Charles.

Arthur is best known for playing Jake Wheeler in USA Network and Syfy’s hit horror series Chucky and for his work as Zack in Amazon’s Emmy-winning series Transplant. Fans might also know him from his work in hit series and films that include Kidding, SWAT, The American Boys, and Hero Dog: The Journey Home.

The episode is a big episode for Oliver Platt’s Dr. Charles, and it’s fitting that all of the episode’s guest stars are weaved into his storyline through the episode. While we don’t get to see Arthur on-screen in the episode, he plays a major role in the episode, as do some of the episode’s other amazing guest actors.

This includes Narci Perez Regina, who plays Sage Ellison in the episode, a woman who comes into the ED complaining of stomach pain that Charles believes could be masking a physiological diagnosis. Her storyline also involves Tiffany Mann, who plays Sage’s sister Soraya in the episode.

Regina is best known for playing Kitty in Harlan Coben’s Shelter miniseries, but she’s no stranger to the Wolf Entertainment family, having previously made guest appearances in FBI and Law & Order: SVU. Mann, meanwhile, is best known for NBC’s one-season musical drama Rise and for her guest spots in shows that include New Amsterdam, Extra/Ordinary, and Orange is the New Black.

Rounding out the episode’s guest cast is Omari K. Chancellor, who plays a young man named Travis who comes through the ED with injuries that suggest he was sexually assaulted. Charles and Ripley try their best to help Travis, but he is adamant he fell and turns away their help.

Chancellor is coming off his recurring role in the first season of FX’s breakout new series Love Story, on which he played the role of fashion designer Gordon Henderson. Prior to Love Story, Henderson was best known for a guest appearance on Elsbeth and a role in Zac Efron’s war comedy The Greatest Beer Run Ever.
