Chicago Med Shocker: Goodwin’s Terrifying Threat Leaves Everyone Stunned

On the heels of Hannah’s heartbreaking loss in Chicago Med’s Season 10 episode titled “Trust Fall,” there’s even more drama coming in hot as we get more details about the death threat Goodwin received. In the preview for Episode 4, the threat is taken seriously and there’s a glimpse at who possibly sent the note.

The synopsis for Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 4 doesn’t reveal anything about Goodwin, though there may be a clue in the “familiar face.” The logline reads: “A familiar face returns to the ED; Ripley and Charles treat a woman with a rare disorder; Frost suspects that his patient’s father is lying about his daughter’s condition.”

Fans are concerned about Goodwin and rightfully so. In a Reddit discussion about the third episode, one fan noted, “Sharon, girl you got no business walking around a parking garage alone after a death threat.” Others noted, “OMG, exactly. I got scared when that scene showed up” and “Right? Like girl, get some protection! And the flickering light in the garage added extra ominous vibes.”

One Chicago Med fan worried that, based on the preview, the next episode might focus too much on Goodwin’s death threat. “Can I say I don’t care about the death threat? I really hope it’s something big and unexpected, otherwise it’s all screentime lost for other characters,” they noted. “Btw, a whole promo dedicated to that? Mah.”

An October 9 NBC Insider article examined the episode, looking first at when Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) was first handed the letter. She opened the note and revealed a terrifying message: “I’m going to put a knife to your throat and watch you bleed out!”

Goodwin got security involved, with a Gaffney rep asking, “You have no idea who sent this?” She responded, “No. I mean, we have an occasional angry patient; we’ve let some staff go. There’s been a lot of people who weren’t happy.” She was asked to provide a list of laid off employees.

Dr. Dennis Washington’s (John Earl Jelks) wondered how often death threats escalate — should Goodwin be overly concerned? The matter was definitely taken seriously, with the board offering Goodwin a chance to work remotely while they investigated. That wasn’t an option for her, however, as she noted, “Dennis, I can’t effectively run this hospital from my living room.”

She added, “Look, I’ve done this job a long time. I’ve pissed off a lot of people. It comes with the territory. So I appreciate your concern, but unless there’s more to discuss, I’d really like to get back to it.” Work kept her plenty busy, but when she left for the day, she was visibly shaken as she walked alone in the parking lot to her car.

Chicago Med is available to stream on Peacock.
