Former Chicago Med star Torrey DeVitto sent a striking political message ahead of Election Day.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the actress—who married director Jared LaPine in September and is pregnant with their first child—took to Instagram with an unmistakable endorsement for Kamala Harris.
“I voted for me, for us and especially for my little future voter. #kamalaharris #harriswalz2024,” DeVitto, 40, captioned a photo of herself wearing a black sweater with voting stickers on her baby bump.
“The voting booth is still the only place that a pauper equals a billionaire and any woman equals any man,” she added, quoting journalist and activist Gloria Steinem. “It is the only place on earth in which everybody’s equal. If we didn’t fall for the idea that our vote doesn’t count—an idea nurtured by those who don’t want us to use it—we could elect feminists, women of all races, and some diverse men, too, who actually represent the female half of the country equally.”
DeVitto concluded the quote by writing, “It’s up to us. One vote does in fact count. – @gloriasteinem.”
In the comments, fans of the Chicago Med alum were divided over her endorsement of Harris. One Instagram user wrote, “Good, you did the right thing 👏🏻#kamlaforpresident 💙💙💙.”
Another agreed, sharing, “i adore you more now!!!” while a different Instagram user commented, “I did too! 💙🇺🇸👶💙🇺🇸👶.”
However, many others expressed their dismay, with one Donald Trump supporter declaring, “voting for Kamala and walz is ruining your baby’s future. I voted for trump and my kids will have a great future once he is back in office. The actors and actresses are so out of touch. Stop drinking the kool aid.”
Someone else wrote, “Good I voted Red for my daughter!!!❤️,” while another echoed, “I voted also. But for TRUMP 🇺🇸.”
Other fans came to DeVitto’s defense, with one commenting, “It never ceases to amaze me, and not in a good way, how so many Trump supporters feel the need to spam a pro Harris post with comments, including very nasty ones. Do they feel legitimized to do so by Trump’s own actions and language? Vote for the candidate of your choice, but why this need to randomly attack people…”
