Chicago Med Season 9: Will’s Replacement, Another Shocking Exit and More Drama
It’s going to be a while before Chicago Med Season 9 premieres, so that means we have more time to come up with predictions about NBC’s hit medical drama. And “drama” is the best way to describe it, because there’s always something going on at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, from romantic hookups to equipment breakdowns. That’s before factoring in the increasingly wild cases of the week. Even by TV medical drama standards, it’s a chaotic place to work.
Especially after the turbulent eighth season, there are many questions to answer and dangling plot threads to resolve. Here’s our top Chicago Med Season 9 theories, all of which mean life isn’t going to get any easier for One Chicago’s medical heroes. But at least fans will continue to be entertained by their challenges, victories and the emotional moments that have made the show successful for over 160 episodes.

In the Chicago Med Season 8 finale, Jack Dayton revealed that he would have to sell his shares in the hospital since OR 2.0 had financially ruined him. Expect that to be a talking point at least in the Season 9 premiere. A recurring theme across the series has been the hospital’s dire financial straits — thus why Dayton became such an important character in the first place. If the collapse of OR 2.0 doesn’t expose the hospital to some kind of legal action, it’ll certainly result in some bad press and Med will once again be struggling to survive. This will lead to more ethical dilemmas for the staff, particularly Sharon Goodwin, who’s often caught between good business and patient care. Remember when the hospital’s biggest problem was Will getting himself sued? Those days are like a dream compared to the mess Jack has left behind.
