Last time we checked into Chicago Med, Dr. Hannah Asher was dating Luke Mitchell’s Dr. Mitch Ripley, but the door remains open for a potential romantic relationship between Hannah and Dr. Dean Archer (played by Steven Weber), according to star Jessy Schram.
“The reality is that, while they’re both working at the hospital, there’s nothing that’s ever completely off the table,” Schram, who plays Hannah, tells TVLine.
The actress adds that she enjoys the unique friendship between her character and Archer: “I absolutely love the Archer/Asher relationship. I adore working with Steven Weber,” Schram shares. “I think we have something really fun and really interesting within the characters really relating to each other in their struggles of being broken individuals, and I think that they have a really cool dynamic, and I wonder, if they were to ever make that romantic, if it would shift the dynamic in a way that we would actually desire more or less of.”
However, as Season 10 approaches, romance doesn’t seem to be on the table for the friends and colleagues. “I think, right now, that’s not where the focus is — at least from what I know,” Schram says.
“For right now, I love where they’re at and just want to see more of their platonic love relationship,” the actress continues. “But to be honest, it can go anywhere at any time, and I’m here for the ride.”
As for Hannah and Ripley, Schram previously teased that the Season 9 finale’s cliffhanger ending, in which Ripley took off without a word after Pawel accused him of assault, “could possibly cause complications” for the couple.
“We’ll see if that’s going somewhere good, or if it’s a little too rocky for them. We’ll see how they affect each other,” Schram previewed.
The new season of NBC’s Chicago Med begins Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c, where it will as usual lead into Chicago Fire Season 13 at 9 pm and then Chicago P.D. Season 12 at 10 pm.
