For a moment there, it looked like Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) had found a perfect partner in ASA Nina Chapman (Sara Bues). The duo seemed compatible in all aspects of their lives, including personal and professional, even with slight hesitation from Voight. Chicago P.D. Season 12 tested their relationship a lot. From illegal collusion to admission of feelings and the Reid (Shawn Hatosy) situation, the duo weathered a lot. Or did they? New comments from Beghe hint that it might be the end of the road for Voight and Chapman. In Chicago P.D. Season 13, Voight is working on getting his unit reinstated. “His people are depending on him,” the actor said. Voight is all alone in his pursuit because Nina is nowhere to be seen to help grease the wheels in places Voight can’t reach. “He’s the liaison with the higher-ups,” Beghe added. With Chapman gone, Intelligence is “all that he has now.”
The Chicago P.D. Season 12 finale hinted that it might be game over for Voight and Chapman. Despite their mutual concern about Reid’s threat to the unit, Chapman was convinced that there was a better way to handle the situation, rather than resorting to Voight’s old tricks. However, Voight refused to listen to her and went ahead to orchestrate Reid’s death, and when she learned what had happened, Chapman made it clear that Voight had crossed a line and there was no coming back from this. It would appear that, despite having feelings for Voight, Chapman’s moral compass is stronger.
What Happens to Voight in ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 13?
The season finds Voight trying to reunite his team. While they did take down Reid, his death did not reverse the plan he had set in motion to try to dismantle the unit. Several weeks have passed since the previous season’s finale, and Voight is now working in another unit after being demoted. However, he doesn’t think anyone can do the job his unit does. A sneak peek of the season finds him making a case for his team. Every day they sit on the sidelines is another day an innocent person dies unnecessarily. Will that be enough for CPD’s brass to rethink Reid’s decision? What effect will being off work for such a long time have on the unit’s members, especially those who have made it their whole life?
