Clarkson’s Farm fans have shared their support as a major update was revealed about show star Gerald Cooper.
The TV personality and farmer, who is known for helping Jeremy Clarkson on his Diddly Squat Farm, was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier this year. Fans of former Top Gear host Jeremy’s show Clarkson’s Farm were eager for updates on Gerald. Jeremy works alongside Gerald in the show as well as wife Lisa Hogan and farm manager Kaleb Cooper.
An update has since revealed Gerald is “happy and healthy” following cancer treatment The 74-year-old received the news he is now cancer free. Gerald was all smiles as he donned a knitted jumper for the announcement posted on the Clarkson’s Farm official account. The caption read: “A healthy and happy Gerald!”
Fans shared their support in the comments as one said: “Awesome news.” Another added: “Can’t like this enough, we love Gerald!” Someone else commented: “So happy he’s doing well!” A fourth wrote: “Proper job Gerald!” A fan declared: “Legend.” In the latest Amazon Prime series of Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy and Kaleb broke the news that Gerald had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Gerald is a fan favourite on the show and gets a regular mention from Jeremy and Kaleb as he is the one who helps with construction around the farm. Jeremy revealed that Gerald was doing well and recovering after undergoing a procedure. The TV star previously opened up about his friendship with Gerald.
He said a few years back: “It doesn’t matter if you can’t understand what he’s talking about, because he’s usually talking about Manchester United. He’s fantastic. We’ve known each other for a very long time. He’s 72, also never been outside the village, but has worked on this farm for 50 years. He’s a great dry stone-waller, which is a dying art.”
In the heartbreaking finale of the third series, Jeremy comforted Gerald as he struggled to hold back tears. Lisa, Charlie, Kaleb and Gerald came together to reflect on a year of ups and downs at Diddly Squat Farm. Jeremy narrated over the scene: “Yep, it had been another tumultuous year, but as is now customary, Team Diddly Squat gathered to mark its passing with a picnic in the woods with one of my lesser triumphs.”
“The dam is not quite finished,” Jeremy admitted, prompting Kaleb to point out: “Look at it.” “We have gone backwards,” Jeremy continued, while Charlie quipped: “Have you actually started it?” Lisa then remarked: “That is a disgrace, to be honest, both of you.” Gerald chimed in with a laugh: “It’s like a pair of children have been playing down there, isn’t it?” leading to a burst of laughter from the group.
Jeremy then reflected: “We have had our usual year of rows, bad weather, disappointments, deaths, but let us look at it this way, I became a grandfather for the first time, and you became a father again (pointing to Kaleb) and you, the G-Dog beat the big C.” Gerald, visibly moved, simply responded with a “Yeah,” as they all raised their glasses in a toast. Overcome with emotion, Gerald said: “I would like to thank everybody, all the film crew, and all my friends here. All of you have been so kind to me and my family and thank you very much.” Jeremy responded: “Oh,” before adding comforting words: “Well done, you!”
