A member of the Clarkson’s Farm team has hit out at a viewer who branded TV presenter Jeremy “spineless” and “heartless” following The Baroness’s tragic end on the show
A Clarkson’s Farm star has hit out at a fan after they were branded “heartless” following a tragic loss on the show.
In the new series of his Amazon Prime show Clarkson’s Farm, the former Top Gear and his partner Lisa Hogan, were left emotional as they bid farewell to their pig The Baroness after it was discovered that she had developed cancer and needed to be put down.
In the poignant scenes, Jeremy was seen in tears after growing attached to the farm animal and walking away before The Baroness was euthanized. However, despite the sad news, the couple has since happily announced that they have welcomed new piglets into their care.
Sharing a video to their page, Lisa penned: “This little piggy and this little piggy didn’t go to the market. They are here at [Fenns Wood] fattening up to breed which is really good news.” She added they were “absolutely gorgeous and very happy here.”
While many rejoiced at the news, one user was quick to slam the farmer for the Baroness’s fate. They wrote: “Letting Baroness die with the vet was heartless though. Lost my wife as a fan with that decision,” they wrote, later adding the issue lay with Jeremy “not having the courage to be with the animal” when she died. They added: “Farm life isn’t easy. Leaving it and walking away is spineless.”
However, Diddly Squat’s official account hit back at the comment, writing: “Baroness has a cancerous growth pushing against her lung. Without Amazon paying for an autopsy, we, like most farmers, would never have known.”
Others also jumped to Jeremy’s defence, with one writing: “Seems to me they put the piggle to sleep as soon as they knew she was suffering – I wouldn’t want my animals to have to wait just so I could be there too if they were in pain.”
Viewers have witnessed the farm hit hard times, with Jeremy and farm manager Kaleb Cooper suffering the loss of dozens of pigs to save the business. The TV presenter and his girlfriend Lisa came across a group of piglets that tragically died under heartbreaking circumstances. Initially shifting their focus from dairy to pig farming, Clarkson is shown tending to his pigs as they welcome their first litter of small piglets.
However, it becomes evident that things are not going smoothly for the piglets. In one nightmare scene, Jeremy is heard remarking, “One of them is very weak.” Later that night, he sadly hands Lisa two piglets that have passed away.
