Jeremy Clarkson has added a new venue to his list of business interests – a pub – and it’s set to play a role in an upcoming season of Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Farm
Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear presenter, has added a new string to his bow by purchasing an Oxfordshire pub, which will feature in the upcoming season of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’. The 64-year-old star recently acquired the Windmill pub near Burford, and it’s been hinted that this move will allow him to sell his own beer and farm produce at the establishment, situated approximately ten miles from his Diddly Squat Farm.
Renovations are currently taking place at the pub, with Jeremy sharing on Instagram: “New pub coming along. Only the water, gas, lavatories, staff and electrics to sort and we’ll be ready to go.” As filming for the fourth series of ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ progresses, it has been disclosed that the programme will also document Jeremy’s endeavours as a publican, reports the Mirror.
A source told The Sun on Sunday, July 7: “Viewers love following Jeremy and Kaleb Cooper at Diddly Squat so obviously it felt like a bit of a no-brainer to film their work on the pub as well as at the farm.” The details for the filming of series four are still being finalised.”
Meanwhile, Jeremy has informed his Instagram followers that they will have to wait until 2025 for his pub venture to be fully operational. There have been rumours that Jeremy was so keen to take over the local pub that he proposed “almost £1 million” to the previous owner “within minutes of meeting her,” as reported by MailOnline. However, Jeremy himself confirmed that the purchase price was “less than £1 million.”
The pub’s owner, Jackie Walker, 79, reportedly opened the establishment with her late husband Alan Walker back in 1983. She was taken aback when she learned of Jeremy’s interest in the place.
According to Jackie, Jeremy’s initial interest quickly “accelerated into a finalised deal within minutes of their meeting”. She remembers a film crew entering the pub and then, out of the blue, Jeremy and his team knocked on her door, enquiring if she would be open to selling it.
After her husband Alan passed away in 2013 at the age of 73, Jackie decided to step back from running the pub, which she had done for decades. She allowed leaseholders to continue its operation.
It is reported that Jeremy bought out the remaining five years on that lease from Barry and Vanessa Eason, a husband and wife team who were the leaseholders. The Eason family are believed to have moved out last month.
