Could ‘Blue Bloods’ Characters Appear in ‘Boston Blue’? Donnie Wahlberg Weighs In

Fans of Blue Bloods have been buzzing ever since news broke about the upcoming spinoff series Boston Blue. With anticipation building, many are wondering: will any of the beloved characters from Blue Bloods make an appearance in the new show?

Donnie Wahlberg, who has portrayed Detective Danny Reagan since the show’s debut in 2010, recently addressed the possibility during a press interview—and his response has only fueled more excitement.

“There’s definitely a chance,” Wahlberg teased. “Boston Blue exists in the same universe as Blue Bloods, so there’s always the opportunity for crossovers or surprise visits.”

While Wahlberg didn’t confirm any specific cameos, he made it clear that the door is wide open for familiar faces to pop up. “We know how much fans love the Reagan family, and we love them just as much. If there’s a natural way to bring some of them into Boston Blue, we’re absolutely open to it,” he said.

Created as an extension of the Blue Bloods legacy, Boston Blue promises a fresh take while staying true to the themes that made the original so successful: justice, family, and loyalty. Wahlberg, who is also serving as an executive producer on the spinoff, hinted that the series will explore new characters and stories, but with subtle nods to its roots.

“We’ve got some fun surprises planned,” he added with a smile. “It’s going to be exciting for both longtime fans and new viewers.”

No official release date for Boston Blue has been announced yet, but production is reportedly underway, and updates are expected soon.

Until then, fans can continue enjoying the final season of Blue Bloods and keep their fingers crossed for a crossover that reunites the Reagan clan—at least for a scene or two.
