Could ‘Blue Bloods’ Make a Return? CBS’ Cryptic Social Media Posts Suggest So

Could it be? Do miracles really exist? Especially on network TV? Well, judging by the nine lives of S.W.A.T. anything can happen and for Blue Bloods fans, they’ll take just about any semblance of hope they can get that the beloved series will make its way back onto CBS after receiving a shocking cancellation last year. In the time since the bizarre decision, a spin-off starring Donnie Wahlberg was given the greenlight (more on that in a bit), and fans, along with series stars like Tom Selleck, have rallied for the story to move forward. Now, thanks to a few social media posts, we find ourselves wondering if there really is a chance that the team could reunite for Season 15.

The chatter started over the weekend when Blue Blood’s Instagram account dropped a message that raised the antennas of suspicious fans. Accompanied by a clip that featured Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan and Bridget Moynahan’s Erin Reagan chatting about a hastily delivered negotiation, the caption reads “The right move isn’t always the safe one.” And this isn’t the first time fans have wondered if the social media team might be hinting at something deeper, after a March post was accompanied by the words, “A Chance to Turn Things Around.” Could this mean that something is on the way? Or do we simply have our tin foil hats on, hoping with the rest of the fandom that the procedural will once again grace our screens? Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing right now.

What we do know is that Blue Bloods has one of the most dedicated followings in TV history. After CBS handed down its decision to axe the long-running weekly crime drama, fans were devastated, with all eyes on the series finale to perhaps better understand why the show had to go. But, if anything, audiences were left with more questions, especially when the tally was counted to reveal staggering viewership numbers for the show’s final bow. Since then, audiences have been trying to make sense of a senseless decision on the side of the network.

‘Blue Bloods’ Continues Through an Offshoot

Perhaps to soften the blow a bit, early in the year, CBS announced that Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan would receive his very own off-shoot. Titled Boston Blue, the series will follow the detective as he picks up his life and moves up north where he’ll work with a brand-new set of co-workers on fresh investigations. Right now, no Blue Bloods cameos have been set, but considering the proximity between Boston and New York City, there’s a solid chance that a crossover will happen at one time or another. We won’t have very long to wait either, as a teaser revealed that a release date is anticipated for this fall.
