The chatter started over the weekend when Blue Blood’s Instagram account dropped a message that raised the antennas of suspicious fans. Accompanied by a clip that featured Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan and Bridget Moynahan’s Erin Reagan chatting about a hastily delivered negotiation, the caption reads “The right move isn’t always the safe one.” And this isn’t the first time fans have wondered if the social media team might be hinting at something deeper, after a March post was accompanied by the words, “A Chance to Turn Things Around.” Could this mean that something is on the way? Or do we simply have our tin foil hats on, hoping with the rest of the fandom that the procedural will once again grace our screens? Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing right now.
What we do know is that Blue Bloods has one of the most dedicated followings in TV history. After CBS handed down its decision to axe the long-running weekly crime drama, fans were devastated, with all eyes on the series finale to perhaps better understand why the show had to go. But, if anything, audiences were left with more questions, especially when the tally was counted to reveal staggering viewership numbers for the show’s final bow. Since then, audiences have been trying to make sense of a senseless decision on the side of the network.
