Creating more seasons of a particular show gets expensive. Opting for spin-offs in a franchise helps to keep the costs down for a streaming network while pulling in the same audience. Does that mean we could see another Bridgerton spin-off in the works soon?
The work for Bridgerton Season 4 has started, but it will take around tow years to see the episodes. Wouldn’t a spin-off in the middle of the break make some sense? Sadly, that’s not likely to happen as there isn’t a spin-off in the works just yet, but could there be in the future?
More Bridgerton will get expensive for Netflix
Renewing Bridgerton leads to higher costs. The first two seasons of a Netflix series are the cheapest of the lot. Once the shows go past Season 2, the costs rise exponentially due to the way the contracts work. This is why we see a lot of shows stop around Seasons 2 and 3. Bridgerton has Season 4 confirmed, but getting a fifth season will mean more costs. The show needs to keep being a strong performer for Netflix for that to happen.
So, a spin-off makes sense. This leads to creating a new show, helping to keep costs down. It’s in the universe that fans have already fallen in love with. Bridgerton fans have proven they will show up for a spin-off. They did so for the Queen Charlotte spin-off, although that doesn’t need a second season as the story was told.
There’s no shortage of characters outside of the Bridgerton family to cover in a spin-off. Could we get another one?
There isn’t a Bridgerton spin-off in the works yet
When it came to the release of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Shonda Rhimes talked about the development of other spin-offs. She shared that she only did this one because she was so connected to and interested in Queen Charlotte’s story. It was a no-brainer to keep the story going.
While writing, Rhimes did admit that she became more interested in Lady Violet Bridgerton’s story. We have heard a little of her romance with her husband through the stories she has told her children. Fans would love to see that play out on the screen, especially considering what we saw in the Queen Charlotte spin-off.
The Pop Verse did share that Julia Quinn doesn’t think that she could come up with a story for Violet. This would suggest there won’t end up being a story to tell. That doesn’t mean there never will be; it could just take time.
As of right now, there isn’t another spin-off in the works. We would love to see more of the story, though.
