Fans are only a week out from the NCIS: Los Angeles series finale, but Daniela Ruah already has a new project lined up.
In mid-April, the actress took to Instagram to reveal that she is starring in a new show set to debut on Netflix. Posting both Portugal and the United States’ posters for the upcoming series Turn of the Tide, she shared that the Portuguese-language action thriller will premiere on the streamer on May 26. This news also comes ahead of ceasing her time on CBS, as NCIS: LA ends two weeks earlier on May 14.
“It’s coming,” she captioned the post on April 14, while also translating it into her native Portuguese.
Because Daniela is famous for portraying Kensi Blye for the last 14 years, folks were thrilled to see that she wasn’t leaving acting after NCIS: LA finishes its run on primetime television. What’s more, they seemed excited by the fact that she would be heading to another job so quickly after the CBS drama concludes.
“Looking forward to see it,” one person wrote. “❤️❤️ Very excited ❤️❤️,” a different user added. “Good luck on your next project @danielaruah [a] Poland fan of NCIS LA sends greetings,” another follower commented.
As far as what fans could expect from Turn of the Tide, Netflix dropped some clues in the trailer description on YouTube. According to the official synopsis, the series will follow a group of friends as a significant amount of drugs wash up on the shores of Rabo de Peixe in Azores, Portugal. This leads them to choose “whether to remain a small fish in a sea of sharks, or change their destiny forever.” IMDB further confirmed that Daniela will portray a character named Fátima for two of the seven expected episodes.
Netflix isn’t the only thing the actress is up to lately. A few days prior to the announcement, Daniela shared that she is also hosting the Portuguese TV show Os Traidores, which translates to “Traitors” in English.
“The day is finally here! Ep 1 of ‘Os Traidores (Traitors)’ airs tonight in Portugal and I’m so exciting for you all to meet the contestants!” she wrote on April 9 on Instagram. “This has been an incredible show to be a part of … Let’s go!”
Viewers may also know that Daniela isn’t the only NCIS: LA star making TV moves. In February, Eric Christian Olsen revealed that he’s co-executive producing a reboot of the 1980s legal drama Matlock, which will star Academy Award winner Kathy Bates and air on CBS.
