The format will compete for audiences with “O Triângulo”, a reality show presented by Cristina Ferreira.
It’s the big television signing at the beginning of the year. After the end of “NCIS: Los Angeles”, a series that established Daniela Ruah as a renowned actress in the USA, the Portuguese actress is back in her country to present a television program. She will be at the head of “Os Traidores”, which will occupy the Sunday evenings on SIC.
“I am very happy to accept this challenge from SIC to present ‘Os Traidores’. It will be a new experience for me, but above all, I am thrilled to be back with the Portuguese public”, says the actress in a statement.
Impresa’s Director General of Entertainment, Daniel Oliveira, says: “We are very pleased to have Daniela Ruah with us on this programme, on SIC. Daniela has the talent, energy, professional experience and the right resources to adapt to the different narrative registers that the format requires in its different phases. She is as excited as we are for this show, which is being successfully produced around the world.”
“Os Traidores” is an adaptation of the Dutch program “De Verraders”. The original version has 18 participants: three play the role of “traitors”, while the remaining 15 will be “faithful”. The faithful don’t know who the traitors are, but viewers are told who’s who early on in the show.
Every night, the traitors meet in secret to decide who they want to eliminate from the game. Whoever is “killed” does not appear the next morning. Players accumulate silver bars and, in some challenges, they can also win a shield that protects them from the threats of traitors.
“Os Traidores” will compete for television audiences with “O Triângulo”, a reality show that TVI is preparing and which will be presented by Cristina Ferreira. Both debut in March.
After recording this program, Daniela Ruah will return to the United States, confirmed in statements to the magazine “TV 7 Dias”. “I’m just finishing filming the last season of NCIS Los Angeles and I’m even scheduled to return to Los Angeles for new projects.”
And she added: “As I have been doing throughout this time, I always want to take advantage of good opportunities to work in Portugal, with my family and the Portuguese public, which I love so much. This invitation from SIC is a great challenge, which comes at the right time to be able to explore a television genre different from what I’ve been doing. I am very excited about this format, which I already know both in the American version and in other countries“.
