Chicago Med’s newest doctor has officially reported for duty!
This fall, NBC’s hit medical drama will be undergoing yet another round of cast shakeups that will see beloved characters leading and new faces entering the mix at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. Among the new doctors fans will be meeting in season 10 is pediatric resident Dr. John Frost, set to be played by Never Have I Ever star Darren Barnet.
Little is known about Barnet’s new character aside from that he’ll apparently be keeping a secret from the rest of the team – a common trend for new doctors at Chicago Med these days. What we do know is that Barnet has officially begun filming scenes for the show and is eager to scrub in as the newest member of the cast!
In a new video shared on Instagram, Barnet dons the signature maroon-colored scrubs worn by many of our favorite doctors in the ED as he goes through some of his favorite things about his doctor persona.
“If I was a doctor, I don’t think I’d ever stop playing with this (referring to the stethoscope around his neck) or this (a flashlight pen) or this (his drawstring badge),” Barnett jokes as he shows off the props that tie together his look. “That’s probably why I’d never be a doctor. I’d also never make it through med school,” he admits as the video trails off.
We’re not going to lie, we sort of hope the show brings Barnet’s humor to the role as it’ll be a shame if they waste his comedic abilities on the show. And we’d be lying if we said the show couldn’t use a little bit of comedic relief to help break things up in the ER!

Chicago Med season 10 cast will look a bit different
When Chicago Med finally returns this fall, NBC’s medical drama will look a bit different than last season as there have been more cast changes this offseason.
The biggest change heading into the new season of Chicago Med is the exit of Dominic Rains as Dr. Crockett Marcell. Rains exits the show after five seasons on the show and it marks a major departure for the series on the heels of a wave of cast turnovers in season 8. We don’t quite know how the show will handle Crockett’s departure or who might step up to fill the void he’ll be leaving in the cast, but we do know that the show will be adding a few new faces.
In addition to Darren Barnet’s new character, Dr. John Frost, season 10 will also introduce Sarah Ramos as Dr. Caitlin Lenox, an ED Attending who makes it her mission to maximize the workflow of things at the hospital upon her arrival.
Chicago Med returns Wednesday, September 25 at 8/7c on NBC!
