It’s safe to say that, after around 30 years, Friends fans have uncovered nearly every bit of trivia there is about the beloved program, but it turns out that there are still some Easter eggs nestled in the episodes.
The sitcom ran for 10 years before the finale aired in May 2004, and starred Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc in the main roles.
Although the series ended 20 years ago, that hasn’t stopped viewers poring over the series with a fine-tooth comb, searching for jokes, cameos and snippets they hadn’t caught before.
In fact, some have only just realized that one of Rachel Green’s (Jennifer) most unique love interests was actually played by a very familiar face…
If you cast your mind back to episode 10 of season two, we were briefly introduced to periodontist ‘Russ’, in an episode aptly titled The One With Russ.
He raised eyebrows as he had a striking resemblance to the paleontologist, and even worked in a similar field, but Rachel was the last one to pick up on their likeness, and quickly ended their romance when she did.
It wasn’t all bad for Russ, credited simply as ‘Snaro’, as he struck up a romance with Julie (Lauren Tom) during the final moments of the instalment.
However, despite the episode airing nearly three decades ago some fans have only just clocked that the reason Russ and Ross were so similar is because they were both played by David.
According to reports, ‘Snaro’ is an alias that the actor sometimes used, and also served as a tribute to a friend.
Some Reddit users had their minds blown about the revelation, admitting they had assumed for years that the roles were played by two different people.
Yes, seriously.
Unpacking the episode in the dedicated Friends page, Lamplightqueen confessed: ‘Mannn I thought he wasplayed by david only, with some makep on. Man I am so dumb. I am 27 [sic].’
No_Corgi_7053 penned: ‘I even argued with my boyfriend that it’s a different person. I was like “damn! How did they find someone who looks almost exactly like Ross”.’
BethKatez posted: ‘My dumbass younger self thought Snaro was a real person, and I was amazed they got such a close resemblance to David.’
Folk-smore agreed: ‘I also thought this. It wasn’t until I was a full grown adult, honestly probably already in my 20s, when I realized it was just David.
