Demi Moore gave a special shoutout to her General Hospital days as she reflected on her 45-year-long career in Hollywood and her booming success as an actress.
In a new exclusive interview for ‘People’s World’s Most Beautiful,’ the Oscar-nominated star reminisced on the early days of her career and the first time she realized she could “make it” as an actress. Looking back, Demi said she considered her first breakthrough role to be her character Jackie Templeton on the ABC daytime soap General Hospital.
The 62-year-old actress shared: “The first big moment was when I got General Hospital a month before my 19th birthday. It was like a real job where I was going to have an actual salary, meaning I didn’t have to have another job. I could live by doing this thing that I loved and hoped I could do.”
The former Substance star continued: “But I really never felt like I knew what I was doing. I didn’t really study. I really did come from the university of Fake It Till You Make It. Everything for me was watching, listening and learning from fellow actors.”
In General Hospital, Jackie was an investigative reporter that moved to Port Charles in pursuit of finding her missing sister Laura Templeton. After arriving to town, Jackie soon found herself entangled in the kidnapping investigation of Laura Spencer.
As Jackie teamed up with Luke Spencer and Robert Scorpio on the case, she soon sparked a steamy affair with Scorpio despite him being married to Holly Sutton at the time. After personal conflicts with Holly and some of the other characters, Jackie skipped town. Demi took on the role of the passionate work-driven character for two years from January 4, 1982, to April 20, 1984.
