It’s Thanksgiving week and we have so much to be grateful for. In addition to time with family and friends, delicious seasonal foods, and stellar Black Friday deals, we’re thankful for a chance to sit down, once again, with the beloved Reagan family on Friday night.
Blue Bloods fans are currently reeling in the sadness that surrounds the end of an era, as the 14th season is just two episodes from concluding, marking the end of the series altogether. But on November 29, there is no new episode of Blue Bloods.
Instead, CBS is taking a hiatus from its regular episodic programming to release Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy. Set to air at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, the retrospective special will reflect on the past 293 episodes, honoring the police procedural drama and its characters in the process. After this week, Blue Bloods will resume its regular schedule, with the penultimate episode airing on Friday, December 6, and the finale airing on Friday, December 13. In other words, the moment we’ve all been dreading will be here sooner than we know it, and fans can’t help but feel, well, blue.
“I’m going to miss these family dinners with the Reagans,” one Instagram user commented on a recent post from the show’s account. “Nothing else like it on TV! Gonna miss it for sure,” another Instagrammer commented.
Meanwhile, some Blue Bloods fans can’t help but show their disdain for the network’s decision to end the show. “If there is nothing quite like a Reagan family dinner, then why ya canceling the show Instead of moving it to Paramount+,” one fan asked on Instagram. “Best show on Friday night—so sad it’s going to be done. I can’t believe that CBS wouldn’t do another season, especially seeing all the crew members were ready to do it,” someone else remarked.
Only time will tell if the network makes a last-ditch decision to keep the show going but as it currently stands, we have two episodes and one special left to revel in it all—and we’re grateful for that.
