NYPD Officer Danny Reagan is back on the CBS beat.
The Eye network has announced a straight to series order for Boston Blue (working title), a spinoff from the long-running Blue Bloods starring Donnie Wahlberg, for the 2025-2026 broadcast season. Wahlberg will reprise his role as NYPD officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.
Boston Blue is produced by CBS Studios in association with JBTV. S.W.A.T. writers Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis will showrun and executive produce. Jerry Bruckheimer, KristieAnne Reed and Wahlberg will also serve as executive producers.
Debuting in September 2010, Blue Bloods ran for 15 seasons, producing 293 episodes in total. It concluded in December.
Boston Blue joins upcoming Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country, headlined by Morena Baccarin, next season. The expectations point to either new drama replacing veteran S.W.A.T., now in season eight and airing in the Friday 10 p.m. ET hour. Initially, S.W.A.T. was canceled after season six, but the network reversed its decision.
