The latest trailer has been released for Don’t Move. Starring Yellowstone‘s Kelsey Asbille, Don’t Move is an upcoming Netflix horror thriller about a serial killer who injects a young woman with a substance that will eventually paralyze her. This substance is time-delayed, however, so the film’s lead must run and fight for her life as her body shuts down in stages. In addition to Asbille, Don’t Move features a leading cast including Finn Wittrock, Daniel Francis, and Dylan Beam.
Now, Netflix has released the trailer for Don’t Move. The trailer opens with a seemingly serene bird-filled soundscape being interrupted by a woman struggling through a field. While she is struggling to breathe, a voiceover reveals that the woman has been given a “special relaxant.” This is later revealed to be a time-delayed paralytic agent that has increasing effects as each minute passes. The paralytic agent also affects the woman’s voice, leaving her struggling to get help as she continues through the wilderness.
What This Trailer Reveals About Don’t Move
Time And Sound Will Be Key Elements
The Don’t Move trailer incorporates several elements that will likely be central in the serial killer movie. For one, there is the element of time. Time comes into play in several ways within the trailer, most notably in the explanation of how the lead’s 20-minute progression to paralysis works. It also features in the soundscape with the ticking and alarm of the main character’s smartwatch, which ticks at the end of the trailer, indicating the beginning of her paralysis.
As a one-woman survival story, Don’t Move puts everything on Asbille’s shoulders, and if she shines, it could be great for her career.
Sound itself also seems to be a crucial element in Don’t Move. About halfway through the trailer is when this drug’s effect on the voice is revealed, and while the clip begins with the protagonist’s labored and audible breathing, the trailer progressively features less and less sound. The noises that surround the otherwise-silent character are terrifying, including the rushing torrent of a river, which will pose a threat to the lead.
Our Take On The Don’t Move Trailer
The Netflix Thriller Is A Great Chance For Kelsey Asbille To Shine
While I am compelled by multiple aspects of the Don’t Move trailer, the factor that will make or break the film is the lead performance by Asbille. She has shown her chops before by playing Monica Dutton in Yellowstone, but Don’t Move is really her chance to break out into a leading film role, after largely being limited to TV and background characters. As a one-woman survival story, Don’t Move puts everything on Asbille’s shoulders, and if she shines, it could be great for her career.
