Chicago Med Season 10: What led to the argument between Dr. Frost and Joe Thomas?
The disagreement between Dr. Frost and Joe Thomas in Chicago Med Season 10 episode 2, started when Joe and Gina took their son Max to Gaffney Medical Center because Max was having pain in his ribs. At first, it seemed like a small health problem, but things got serious when Dr. Frost looked at Max’s CT scan and found out that Max’s cancer had returned.
Max was only given a few months to live unless he chose to have a high-stakes surgery that could leave him in a wheelchair and did not assure a longer survival.
Max’s parents were crushed after hearing the news but still hoped that the surgery could save him. However, Dr. Frost didn’t think the surgery was a good idea because it could make Max’s life much harder and wouldn’t even help much.
When Joe and Gina decided not to tell Max how serious his condition was, Dr. Frost felt torn. As a pediatric resident, he thought Max should know the truth about his health condition so that he could make an informed decision regarding his treatment.
This disagreement caused tension between Frost and Max’s parents. Joe and Gina wanted to protect their son’s hope, but Frost was determined to make sure Max had all the information to make his own decision. This moral conflict eventually led to a big argument in the second episode of Chicago Med Season 10.
Chicago Med Season 10: Did Max go for the surgery?
Max ultimately chose to have the surgery, but only after Dr. Frost, with some encouragement from Dr. Archer, told him the complete truth about his condition. When Frost saw how heartbroken Max was to find out that his cancer was incurable and that his parents had kept this from him, he was deeply upset.
Despite his sadness, Max showed his maturity to understand why his parents tried to hide the truth about his diagnosis. As soon as Dr. Frost heard that Max was undergoing the surgery, he spoke to Max, asking him why he had agreed to this surgery.
Max told him that when he was first diagnosed with cancer, he had made a list of things he wanted to do which turned out to be very long.
“Now it looks like I’m not going to be able to accomplish much of any of it. The only thing I know for sure I can accomplish in the life I have left is to make my parents happy. I can still do that. It’s going to have to be enough,” Max told him.
Although Frost disagreed with the surgery initially, he respected Max’s choice.
