The Canadian singer has surprised his fans by releasing a never-before-seen video from his personal archive.
At one point, he reveals that his 2016 hit “Too Good” is actually dedicated to tennis player Serena Williams, ending years of speculation that they were in a relationship.
“When I make songs for women, I make songs for them, so I know what kind of song to make,” he said, adding that at least if he talks about them, he’ll be honest and make a song that they like .
In the video, in which he talks to his mother, he tried to explain to her that he knows Serena very well and that he knows that she will listen to him, but that she will not hate him for it.
Drake’s album Views was released in April 2016, and later that year, he and Rihanna had the hit song “Too Good.” Released as a single, the song peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in September. Drake and Serena were rumored to be in a romantic relationship from 2010 to 2015.
The singer has often followed her tennis matches and footage of them kissing at a restaurant in Cincinnati surfaced online in August 2015.
