Season 4 takes a dramatic turn when a string of suspicious equipment failures puts Edgewater’s firefighters in jeopardy. At first, it seems like coincidence — a faulty ladder, a missing hose valve, a power outage at base camp. But as the incidents escalate, Sharon and Vince begin to suspect something far darker: sabotage.

An internal investigation is launched, and suspicion falls on multiple team members. Could it be a disgruntled recruit? A revenge-driven inmate? Or someone higher up with a hidden agenda?

The storyline introduces a tense thriller vibe into Fire Country. Eve takes point on the investigation, using her background in logistics and security to follow the trail. With each discovery, trust within the team erodes. Even Bode is briefly questioned when it’s discovered that one of the incidents occurred during his solo watch.

Gabriela, meanwhile, uses her EMT knowledge to analyze injury patterns that suggest intentional misdirection during rescues. Her analytical approach brings her into conflict with Manny, who refuses to believe one of their own could be responsible.

In Episode 16, the saboteur is revealed: an administrative assistant with ties to a corrupt developer trying to push Edgewater’s residents off their land by weakening CAL FIRE response times. The assistant had lost family in a wildfire years prior and was manipulated into believing this “disruption” was justice.

A dramatic final standoff in the forest sees the saboteur attempt to disable the team’s comms during an out-of-control blaze. Bode and Eve manage to track and confront him, saving dozens of lives.

Afterward, Vince gives a powerful speech about vigilance and rebuilding trust. The betrayal cuts deep, but the response proves even stronger. The season ends with a recommitment ceremony for the team — not just to honor their oath, but to each other.
