‘Elsbeth’ Season 3 Finally Has the Chance to Add the Romance Fans Crave

Elsbeth will soon return for season 3, giving the CBS series the opportunity to finally incorporate an important element that’s been missing from the first two seasons. Elsbeth’s first two seasons were a delight to watch, giving a unique take on a common trend: an outsider helps the police solve murders.

Before it even aired, Elsbeth season 3 solidified itself as a comedy procedural. Comedy greats like Stephen Colbert will appear on Elsbeth for the upcoming season, as will David Cross and Amy Sedaris. Although it’s also a drama, Elsbeth includes some laugh-out-loud funny moments.

However, even comedies typically include a device Elsbeth has been sorely lacking. Luckily, season 3 is right around the corner, and there will be plenty of time for the show to explore this plot device.

Elsbeth Is Lacking A Serious Romance

Elsbeth season 3 has the chance to introduce an actual romance, which has been lacking in the first two seasons. Sure, our lead character met an interesting Scottish man, but he only appeared in one episode. Referencing Angus in other episodes did not make for the romantic love story the show has been missing.

Love and romance are parts of the human experience, so leaving them out of the show has left a noticeable hole. Of course, each episode of Elsbeth already has a lot to cover; not only is there a murder to solve, but seasons 1 and 2 both had an overarching story of fraud and deception. However, with hour-long episodes, there’s still room for a love story.

Elsbeth Season 3 Needs To Bring Back Angus… Or Add A New Love Interest

The Angus-Elsbeth love story was never quite wrapped up in Elsbeth season 2. Angus should come back for season 3 so we can see if there’s lasting potential between him and Elsbeth. Alternatively, Elsbeth could meet someone local to New York so our beloved lead character wouldn’t have to navigate a long-distance relationship.

Elsbeth season 2 did introduce another potential love story between Kaya and Cameron. However, this story was largely glossed over, lacking any excitement or tension. Kaya will not be returning to Elsbeth season 3 as a series regular, so we likely won’t see her relationship with Cameron fleshed out.

Elsbeth herself is the obvious choice for a romance, and it’s high time the show gave her one. A love story will give viewers even more reason to tune into every episode and provide a relatability that may be missing from a show about murder. Elsbeth season 3 is sure to be great, but a romance would make it even better.
