The Last Show host Stephen Colbert shows up as fictional late-night talk show host Scotty Bristol on the season three premiere of CBS’s Elsbeth. Amy Sedaris, Andy Richter, and Lindsay Mendez also guest star on season three episode one airing on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 9:30pm ET, 9pm PT.
The series moves into its normal Thursdays at 10pm time slot beginning on October 16. Carrie Preston returns to star as the titular character. Wendell Pierce is also back as Captain C.W. Wagner.
“Yes, And…” Plot: Elsbeth dives into the world of late-night comedy when backstage tensions rise between a talk show host (Colbert), his head writer Laurel (Sedaris) and her on-air sidekick husband, Mickey (Richter). Also, Elsbeth meets a new police officer (Lindsay Mendez) who is an aspiring stand-up comic when off the clock on the third season premiere. The episode was written by Jonathan Tolins and directed by Joe Menendez.
Tolins is the season three showrunner and serves as an executive producer along with Robert King, Michelle King, Liz Glotzer, Erica Shelton Kodish, Bryan Goluboff, and Gail Barringer.
