Eric Christian Olsen, known for his role as Marty Deeks on NCIS: Los Angeles, recently shared his thoughts on returning to the NCIS franchise and revealed another project that excites him.
Having portrayed Deeks from 2010 to 2023, fans are eager to see him reprise the character in a potential spin-off. As NCIS gears up for its 22nd season, Olsen addressed whether he would return. He expressed his fondness for former co-stars, mentioning he recently texted Renee Felice Smith and frequently sees Daniela Ruah. However, he dashed hopes by stating he is “not so much” planning a comeback.
Instead, Olsen is enjoying his work on the new series Matlock, where he serves as executive producer and appreciates the blend of dramatic and comedic scenes. This news comes on the heels of fellow NCIS star Mark Harmon’s return as Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the upcoming spin-off NCIS: Origins, which will showcase a younger version of the character played by Austin Stowell.
Reflecting on his own departure from NCIS, Harmon noted the demanding hours on set, stating, “Part of taking the job [was] being home — with a young family — not traveling as much doing movies. [But] the first day, we worked 22 hours. So I thought, ‘That’s not exactly what I thought this was going to be.'”
