Eric’s new Instagram post features a new look at his character Marty Deeks decked out in NCIS gear for another mission in next Monday’s episode. However, fans of the hit CBS series are worried NCIS: Los Angeles could be over soon thanks to his use of some cryptic hashtags.
The TV star hinted NCIS: LA’s 13th instalment could also be its last with his latest update.
He took to Instagram on New Year’s Eve with another look at what’s to come for the show in 2022.
Marty looks ready to step into action wearing an NCIS-issued bulletproof vest and sporting an assault rifle and a shocked look on his face.
However, it was Eric’s ambiguous caption for the new still which caused the most concern amongst the NCIS fanbase
“We about to get back into it,” he wrote.
Eric then added the hashtags: “#ncisla #whysoserious #Kensidown #thefinalseason #letsgo #newepisode #sunday #cbs.”
The use of #Kensidown and #thefinalseason has understandably prompted a stir amongst his 546k followers.
Speculation is now running rampant for what’s coming up this Sunday, and whether NCIS: LA will even be continuing after 2022.
Several worried fans took to the comments to ask if the actor meant it when he alluded to the series coming to an end this year.
The aptly named page ericchristianolsenfans replied: “You’re either trying to scare us again (which wouldn’t be a surprise) or….”
The NCIS regular is infamous for toying with viewers’ expectations by posting screengrabs of some of the most emotional moments from the LA spin-off.
He also teased Deeks’ potential departure back in season 12 when he warned fans to “appreciate him while they can”.
Thankfully, he returned to screens again last year and is hoped to remain with the team for the rest of the show’s tenure.
While there hasn’t been an official announcement from CBS regarding the future of the show just yet, this could be the first indication of the show winding down after season 13.
IG user marialuisa__i exclaimed: “No way!!! Are you messing with us again Eric?”
And deeks_kensi_densi_fan commented: “Nooooo this cannot be the last season!”
#bestshowever but I am looking forward to seeing the new episodes!”
Though markspremulliphotography assured: “Guys there is no way a final season would be announced like this. It would have a press release already.”
It’s unlikely Eric would have let something slip, as a potential cancellation would be announced officially through CBS.
However, could Marty’s stunned expression and the foreboding reference to Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) be signalling the fan favourite couple’s impending departure from NCIS?
