Eric Christian Olsen Opens Up About His Final Days on ‘NCIS: LA’
As “NCIS: Los Angeles” approaches its final episodes, Olsen has shared his emotional experience of concluding his time on the series. He took to social media to express his feelings about bidding farewell to Deeks, admitting that he became teary-eyed after his last scene and even delivered a heartfelt speech to his co-stars.
“What I said, which is the fulfillment of dreams and that the reason that we chose this business was to come out here and tell stories and we got to do that,” he shared. “We got to tell 324 stories.”
Olsen noted that he experiences a mix of appreciation and sadness, especially given that the end of Season 14 was unexpected for many fans.
Key Items from Deeks That Olsen Took Home
It’s not unusual for actors to keep mementos from their time on set after a show ends. Olsen revealed that he took home two significant items in honor of his character. Among the items he claimed were Deeks’ dumbbells and a jacket frequently worn by the character, which he proudly showcased at a wrap party. This confirmed that Olsen now owns a piece of the show’s history.
Once filming concluded, Olsen’s co-star and on-screen love interest, Daniela Ruah, paid an emotional tribute to her character, Kensi Blye, on social media. Deeks and Kensi, who had been a couple since the early seasons and married in Season 10, were a central part of the show from the beginning.
Eric Christian Olsen Shows Off His New Look
Just weeks after wrapping up production on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” Olsen debuted a new, shorter haircut, a significant departure from Deeks’ signature look. Speaking to Parade, Olsen expressed that he wouldn’t miss the long hair from the show and plans to cut it even shorter.
“Yes, I’m going to cut it. I’m going to cut it short,” he stated. “Have you seen the last six months? It’s gotten shorter and shorter and shorter. I know fans are very emotionally invested in that hair, but I’m going to cut it.”
Olsen’s new look might be linked to his transition into new roles. He is now an executive producer for the upcoming reboot of “Matlock,” starring Kathy Bates. While he has written a few episodes of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” it remains to be seen whether he will contribute to the writing for the “Matlock” reboot.
