The Rookie star Eric Winter continues to charm fans with his portrayal of Sgt. Tim Bradford. While the show in itself has gained a huge fan following since it began airing in 2018, Winter’s appeal can be credited for a large portion of that.
Bradford’s chemistry with the other characters on the show, be it with his love interest Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil), or friend and colleague Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) has been one of the most entertaining aspects of the show.
However, his dynamic with Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan is one for the books. Interestingly, much like Fillion, Winter, too has similar Hollywood dreams that he would like to fulfill in his career. Although he has spoken of it in interviews before, for now, they seem quite far-reaching.

Eric Winter has become a household name due to his portrayal of Sergeant Tim Bradford in the popular show The Rookie. As one of the main cast members since the show started airing in 2018, Winter has gained a huge popularity among the fan base.
Admittedly, it has also opened many doors for him in Hollywood. However, he still has some aspirations for his career that are yet to be fulfilled.
The actor spoke to Haute Living in 2024, where he divulged how he would like to shape his career in the coming years. According to him, he would like to tackle genres that he hasn’t had a chance to explore yet. Unlike many actors, he enjoys getting out of his comfort zone a lot.
I would love to do something that is a period piece or in the sci-fi genre. A smart horror or thriller is also something I’m actively looking to do.
What is interesting here is that Nathan Fillion, who plays John Nolan, one of his closest friends in the show, has already made a name for himself in the sci-fi genre. Be it James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy series, or The Suicide Squad, Fillion has been a part of the big leagues for quite a while.
In fact, he is also set to appear in one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Superman, as Guy Gardner. Eric Winter on the other hand, seems far from his dreams despite his tremendous The Rookie fame.
Eric Winter’s Hollywood dreams still seem far fetched
One would think that after two decades of acting career, Eric Winter would be well on his way to fulfill his career goals soon. Especially after The Rookie made him world famous due to the magnitude of its popularity all over the world.
Unfortunately, the industry doesn’t work that way. As such, even for such a promising actor his hopes to appear in a sci-fi movie remain unfulfilled.
However, as the show continues gaining new fans with Season 7 soaring to new peaks, one can only hope that Winter, too, gets a shot at living his dream soon.
As it stands, maybe a Black Mirror episode would be the perfect opportunity for him to take a step toward fulfilling his goals. However, only the future will tell if it ever comes to fruition.
Nevertheless, the actor also mentioned that he and his wife have a production company that already has a few projects in development. So there might be a chance for him to explore what he would like at his own pace.
Regardless, his character Tim Bradford remains a fan-favorite in the show. If anything, fans would definitely love to see him in more genres soon.
