Everything to Know About Station 19 Season 7
Days after the cancellation announcement in December 2023, show creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes commented on the show’s final season.
“Grateful for an unforgettable run. A heartfelt salute to the exceptional cast whose brilliance brought the characters to life and to the viewers who continued to make it possible!” she wrote on Instagram. “Thank you for the magic, the moments and the memories.”
Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, also commented on the decision. “For seven seasons, Station 19 has been a highlight of the ABC lineup thanks to Shonda [Rhimes] and Betsy [Beers’] incredible vision, beloved characters and compelling storytelling,” he said in a press release.
While there seem to be no new cast members (and the previous season’s cast is returning), Station 19 season 7 has one significant change: it will only be 10 episodes long.
Station 19 season 7 premiered on ABC on March 14, 2024, at 10 p.m. ET, right after Grey’s Anatomy.
When it comes to this cast, no news is good news: ABC has not announced any cast members are leaving the series, or anyone else will join for season 7. Station 19’s February 2024 trailer did tease that Kate Powell, played by Kiele Sanchez, would have an expanded role in the final season.
Fans can expect to see the same stars returning for their last season: Jaina Lee Oritz as Andy Herrera, Jason George as Ben Warren, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Doss as Vic Hughes, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery and Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop.
Other cast members include Boris Kodjoe as Robert Sullivan, Stefania Spampinato as Carina DeLuca, Carlos Miranda as Theo Ruiz, Josh Randall as Captain Beckett and Merle Dandridge as Chief Ross.
The season 6 finale of Station 19 was incredibly dramatic, including the death of Michael Dixon, and viewers weren’t sure who survived the collapse of the floor at the Firefighters Ball.
New showrunners Peter Paige and Zoanne Clack teased a lot of drama in Station 19’s season 7 plotlines.
“We share a similar vision for the show, and we’ve got some incredible twists and turns planned for the coming season,” Paige said in an April 2023 statement, per Variety.
ABC released the trailer for Station 19 season 7 at the end of January 2024. The moment when Gibson collapses at the Firefighter’s Ball during the season 6 finale is replayed, with his colleagues and coworkers rushing to help him. The scene also implies that the events of season 7 will pick up where the previous season left off.
The trailer also shows Captain Herrera adjusting to her demanding new role and telling others she will be the “best captain the station has ever seen.”
In February 2024, ABC released another longer trailer that teased potential layoffs for the crew, intense crises for the firefighters to solve and a possible new relationship for Theo with Powell, who had a short three-episode character arc in season 6.
