Everything we know so far about Bridgerton season 4

What with Bridgerton season three sweeping us all off our feet earlier this year, it’s safe to say we’ve been left wanting more – and now! Sadly, Netflix is going to make us wait for one of the best TV shows to return, but that doesn’t stop us hunting out every scrap of news we can and speculating about what might be in store.

When will Bridgerton season four hit our screens? Has a trailer dropped yet? Following the union of fan favourites Penelope and Colin, which sibling is destined to find love next? These are all burning questions that we’ll try our best to answer here.

So, dear readers, here’s everything we know about Bridgerton season four so far…

Has Bridgerton season 4 been confirmed?

Yes! Back in 2021, a “special announcement” from Lady Whistledown via the production company Shondaland confirmed that Bridgerton would return for both seasons 3 and 4.

When will Bridgerton season 4 be released?

Patience is required. It’s expected to be another two years before Bridgerton returns, with a 2026 release date likely. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Jess Brownell explained: “We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film, and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language.” She added that “the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace…we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”

Who will be in Bridgerton season 4?

The full cast is yet to be announced, but there’s some good news. Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton aka Polin will be back for Bridgerton’s next instalment. Nicola told The Wrap: “They’ve told us we’re back for season four, which is super lovely. It’ll be exciting. [We’ll] pop back and have some fun for sure.”

While Phoebe Dynevor, who starred as Daphne Bridgerton, and Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke of Hastings, have confirmed they’ve left the show, it’s likely that other familiar Bridgerton stars will return for season 4. That means the likes of Claudia Jessie as Eloise, Hannah Dodd as Francesca, Jonathan Bailey as Anthony, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Danbury, Ruth Gemmell as Violet and Simone Ashley as Kate should all be resuming their roles.

Which sibling will Bridgerton season 4 be about?

There might be a bit of a wait for the show’s return, but Netflix has made a big announcement in the meantime – the focus of season 4’s lead romance. Drumroll please…it’s bohemian Benedict’s time to shine!

That’s right, Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) will move into the spotlight in the next series. In a post on Instagram, Netfix wrote: “Welcome to the marriage mart Mr. Bridgerton. Benedict’s story is coming next season.”

What will be the plot of Bridgerton season 4?

Netflix has already shared a brief Bridgerton season four synopsis, explaining that the next series “turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict (Luke Thompson)”.

It reads: “Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down – until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, Bridgerton’s executive producer Shonda Rhimes described Benedict as “a charming man who’s trying to find his way”. “He’s very delightful and funny,” she said. “I’m excited for everybody to watch him.” So are we!
