Exclusive Clip from ‘So Help Me Todd’: CBS Dramedy Delves into LGBTQ Identity in New Episode

In the latest episode of CBS’s So Help Me Todd, the dramedy takes a thoughtful approach to exploring LGBTQ identity. The series stars Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden as Margaret Wright, a skilled attorney, and Skylar Astin as her somewhat directionless son, Todd, who works as the firm’s investigator. Each week, they tackle challenging cases while navigating their own family dynamics, including Todd’s relationships with his siblings, Allison (Madeline Wise) and Lawrence (Matthew Wilkas).
This week’s episode, directed by Todd Holland and titled “Is The Jury Out?”, delves into the complexities of being labeled as “gay.” Todd seeks Lawrence’s help to investigate a judge’s sexual orientation, while Margaret and Lyle (Tristen J. Winger) work to locate a hesitant witness crucial to their client’s case.
In an exclusive clip shared by GLAAD, Lawrence discusses the challenges faced by LGBTQ adults and how identity labels do not define their entire existence. This episode, co-written by executive producer Scott Prendergast and Katherine Langenfeld, is inspired by Prendergast’s own experiences. Tune in to the new episode of So Help Me Todd on Thursday, April 18, at 9:01-10 PM ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+.
