Fall 2025 TV Faceoff: CBS, NBC & ABC Reveal Packed Lineups with Spinoffs Galore

With many shows wrapped up for the spring and the news of cancellations of some popular shows, fans will need something to look forward to from CBS, NBC, and ABC. Recently, all three stations have released their preliminary schedule for the fall. In this current schedule, only one new, original show is slated for the fall. The other new shows are all spinoffs of highly rated and established shows.

One thing to note is how spread out each network has placed most of their shows. There isn’t much competition for viewership among them. For the network television lover, there will be a little something every single day of the week. This means the fans will be able to watch all their favorite shows without having to sacrifice.

Below is the Fall schedule for each network. Premiere dates are still to come.

CBS

CBS has the best mixture of long-running shows, like NCIS and FBI, with newcomers such as DMV and the Fire Country spinoff Sheriff Country. This is the network with the most decided for now. The week kicks off with a brand new season of Tracker on Sunday nights. This is the only network with a new show airing on Sunday. To separate NCIS from the rest, CBS’s Fall 2025 schedule will air all three shows on one night, giving it its own block. Boston Blue, a new spinoff of Blue Bloods starring Donnie Wahlberg, will close out the week on Fridays.

On Mondays, The Neighborhood will air its 8th and final season. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is returning on Thursday nights for a second season, making it the second Big Bang Theory spinoff show to have multiple seasons on the network. Following Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage on Thursday nights, comedy fans will get to enjoy their favorite group of souls in the new season of Ghosts. The night will end with new episodes of Elsbeth to round out the sitcom night.

FBI fans will be disappointed to only see the flagship show on the schedule. Unfortunately, both FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International were canceled. FBI is the only show to remain from the universe.

NBC

NBC is very heavy on the drama shows in the fall with the second season renewal of The Hunting Party and the Zachary Quinto-led Brilliant Minds. Both of these shows are the only original drama shows left on the NBC Fall slate. The rest are all part of larger universes. These two shows, along with the Law & Order and One Chicago universes, emphasize NBC’s love for drama television over the span of two days. Wednesdays are dedicated to the Chicago universe, giving fans a full three hours of their favorite city’s first responders in a “One Chicago” block.

After a few notable cancellations from NBC in recent weeks, only two sitcoms are set to premiere on the network in the fall. Last year, NBC had four comedies for the fans of sitcoms. For this upcoming season, it has been reduced to half. St. Denis Medical and Happy’s Place are both in their sophomore seasons and will carry the network’s lighter side.

There are no new shows slated for the fall. Everything that is currently on the schedule has been on for at least a year. There is no telling if this will change as we get closer to September, but, for now, fans can look forward to shows they already know and love.

ABC

The smallest scripted schedule is ABC. We will see the return of many long-running, fan-favorite series on ABC including 9-1-1 for its 9th season and Grey’s Anatomy for its 22nd season. However, fans will be disappointed to see The Rookie and Will Trent have been pushed back until 2026. Both shows were postponed until the spring last season, so fans will have to wait close to a year for a new season again. The fate of Ryan Murphy’s Doctor Odyssey season 2 is still unknown. As of right now, it has been left off the schedule for the fall.

After the cancellation of 9-1-1: Lonestar on Fox, fans will have something new to look forward to on ABC. The 9-1-1 universe expands with 9-1-1: Nashville. It will premiere after its flagship show and is the only new show on the schedule. High Potential and Shifting Gears will begin their sophomore seasons with the hope they will capture the same success as their first season. After spending the second half of their fourth season on Tuesday nights, Abbott Elementary will premiere its fifth season back on Wednesday nights.

Ratings Have Been Taken Into Consideration

The Fall 2025 schedule for the major shows, for the most part, is very similar to last season’s. Almost every renewed show is on the same night and time as last year. Each network’s highest-rated shows found success where they were, with one exception, and moving them to new nights was not necessary. This is good news for the fans. When planning their viewings, not much will have to change for them. Unfortunately, the lists for all three stations are much shorter than they were last year. There were many cancellations of lower-rated shows.

All three stations, however, have opted for expanded universes rather than giving new ideas a chance. Major shows like Fire Country and 9-1-1 have continued to hold steady in numbers, prompting networks to continue to expand upon them. Newer shows are not given the same grace, even when their numbers are just as great as the established shows. This may be something that might change for the spring block, but we will have to wait and see.
