Fans Can’t Stop Laughing After David Boreanaz Shares Emily Deschanel’s On-Set Antics During Bones Reunion

Fox’s police procedural drama series Bones premiered on Sept. 13, 2005, and it ran for 12 seasons and 246 episodes until its series finale on Mar. 28, 2017. Eight years after the show’s finale, lead stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz reunited for the show’s 20th anniversary.

The duo posed together on the red carpet at the Bones 20th Anniversary Retrospective event during the Television Academy’s Inaugural Televerse Festival. The duo played forensic anthropologist Temperance “Bones” Brennan and FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, respectively. While speaking at the event, Boreanaz revealed that Deschanel’s singing on set was driving him “crazy,” per People.

The actor recalled that the lead actress and others, who included Eric Millegan, who played Dr. Zack Addy, would often sing on set. He explained that they were “singing musicals, and it’s driving me crazy,” the actor explained, in typical Booth fashion.

I like musicals, but it got to a point where I’m like…” Just like Brennan and Booth’s constant banter, Deschanel interrupted him, asking him to “Name a song from a musical. Can you name a song from a musical?”

Boreanaz had his answer ready: “Sure. Annie. “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow.” You know?”

For the reunion discussion, they were also joined by creator and showrunner Hart Hanson, as well as T.J. Thyne, Tamara Taylor, and Michaela Conlin, who played Dr. Jack Hodgins, Dr. Camille Saroyan, and Angela Montenegro, respectively.

Deschanel recalls singing musicals on set among her “favorite memories.” The actress shared, “Probably singing all the songs from the musical Annie with Eric Milligan.” Deschanel added, “We got in trouble for that.”

Will Bones Get a Reboot?

The series ran for 12 seasons, and the characters have been through a lot of serious moments. Whether it was kidnappings, serial killers, and conspiracies, the cast experienced loss, heartbreak, and death. After 246 episodes, the show reached a final conclusion. The series received two Primetime Emmy nominations, and has the critics and audience almost in perfect agreement, with an 86% and 84% rating, respectively, on Rotten Tomatoes, across all 12 seasons.

However, there have been conversations about a Bones reunion, and many stars have had positive reactions. During the event, Emily Deschanel didn’t rule out a reboot. “Never say never. I don’t know about a revival. I don’t know if that would ever happen, but I’m open to it.”

Earlier this year, Deschanel expressed interest in a revival during an interview conducted by CBR in March 2025. She shared a similar sentiment in the interview, noting that “People talk about potentially rebooting the show in some way… It is the 20th anniversary this year, so it’d be fun to do something for that, but I don’t know. I’m not in charge of such things, but I’d be down for it.
