Seriously, you were warned.
Flower, a hippie ghost who died in the 1960s and has haunted the country mansion ever since, ascended to heaven in the season two finale, broadcast May 11, 2023. It wasn’t clear until Thursday’s season three premiere that she was the ghost “sucked off,” the series’ term for a character moving on in the afterlife. Flower is portrayed by Sheila Carrasco, who also has had roles in “The Good Place” and “#VanLife,” among others.
The show follows Samantha and Jay, who throw caution to the wind when they convert their recently inherited country estate into a bed-and-breakfast, according to the CBS synopsis. Call it mislaid plans. Not only is the place falling apart, but it’s also inhabited by spirits of previous residents – whom only Samantha can see and hear.
Why did Flower, played by Sheila Carrasco, leave “Ghosts?”
In an interview with Deadline, showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman said they wanted the ghost who moved on to be someone who was consequential, someone that was impactful.
“We landed on Flower, [who we thought] would be an interesting ghost to disappear, because it would create a lot of storylines. A lot of people would have different reactions,” Wiseman said in the article. “So it just seemed like we’d create a lot of stories.”
Flower’s disappearance is going to be an ongoing story that unfolds and has a lot of ramifications throughout the house, Port said.
